Just received in the mail! 2 microsim adapters I bought online for $3. Bought it off the Facebook marketplace and gleaming to have received it 2 days later in the mailbox.
And I was just wondering to myself that the internet is changing the face of consumerism. Well, we were all pretty clear about the benefits of online shopping, what its all about. But we never once felt that it would have a significant impact on “offline retail”. But this is where it really hits you that as we move towards a cashless society, people are fervently trying to ‘cash in’ on the phenomenon. A dotcom can now be set up in a day. Almost no startup costs, redtape, locality issues. Once you are live on the internet, that’s it. You’ve got a business.
And this would mean a huge boon for both domestic and international postage/courier services. This is ironic because when emails and social media came to the scene, postage went down for the simple reason that snail mail was less used. And now, online retail is yet again turning the tide for the once out-of-favour postage services.
The girlfriend loves her online shopping experience. She says the clothes are cheap, and the size fits. I won’t be surprised. The very essence of a online business means that overheads are kept to a minimal, and the clothes are sold at a bargain. Plus, its the gen-x like you and me that are living up these entrepreneurships. They know the mass market for gen-x best. Surely, the dress would fit - not only in size, but in preference.
Not only has the girlfriend caught on. So have I.
